Music is at the very heart of St Mary’s. We feel passionate about the role music can play in nurturing a child's development and skills. Class music takes place weekly for all year groups instilling an early love for the subject.
Individual music lessons are available from Year 2 onwards and we have a large number of our children learning instruments. Lessons are charged at a very competitive rate. We offer a wide variety of instruments including trumpet, clarinet, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, piano and guitar. Currently we have three choirs and take part in regular festivals and activities when we can.
At Christmas we are the only school to play a role in the Trinity Hospice ‘Light up a Light’ service which continues to be an honour.
After school activities include orchestra and jazz band.
Every child is encouraged to take part in music and the subject plays a pivotal role in our worship liturgies and hymn practice.
